Biomain granted patent for angled screw channels

The European Patent Office has granted a patent for Biomain's strategically important and smart innovation angled screw channels in implant bridges. The technology facilitates optimum positioning of implants without abutments, which make the procedure more expensive. Biomain uses the technology in the manufacture of both implant bridges and individual abutments. The patent comes into force on 5 May 2010 in conjunction with publication in the European Patent Bulletin. It will be valid for 20 years and will give Biomain the sole right to all manufacture and sales of products covered by the patent claims.

Biomain's CEO Jerry Wiener says: "The patent is strategically very important to Biomain, as it forms the basis of our market-leading position in the field of individually adapted prosthetics. The sole right is the reward for our inventiveness and for having provided society with new innovations."

Biomain has five active patent families awaiting approval by patent offices worldwide, e.g. its unique screwdriver for angled screw channels and its optionally removable prostheses, for which the company has applied for patents. The aim is to get at least one further patent granted in Europe during 2010.

Biomain is a market leader in the field of individually adapted dental prosthetics. Biomain offers both implant-based and tooth-borne individually adapted prosthetics. Biomain also markets scientifically documented implants and prosthetic components. Biomain is a rapidly growing company with 40 employees, and has its head office in Helsingborg, Sweden.
